Microfossils represent a remarkable archive of past environmental and oceanographic changes, playing a crucial role in reconstructing Earth system dynamics, biogeochemical cycles and their interactions in the evolution of life. Microfossils, abundantly present in sedimentary rocks, are key tools for biostratigraphy and age determination, due to their widespread occurrence and rapid evolution, assuming a pivotal role in the in understanding  of environmental and climate changes. This session aims to foster discussions on methodologies, findings, and future directions in microfossil research, enhancing our understanding of their contributions to environmental reconstructions and Earth's history. Contributions on all microfossil groups, from marine and continental records, spanning all geological time intervals are welcome. Recent developments in their use as bioindicators of ecosystem changes, geological events, and evolutionary processes will be much appreciated.
