Towards Degree Programmes Leading to Professional Qualification in GeologyThis roundtable aims to foster dialogue between universities and the professional community on the future of the geological profession. Particular attention will be devoted to the new regulations and legal framework governing professional qualification and licensure for geologists, with the shared objectives of increasing enrolment in geology degree programmes and strengthening the profession.
The discussion will address the consistent implementation of the new professional traineeship requirements across geology degree programmes nationwide, ensuring a harmonised approach to professional qualification pathways. Participants will also examine the continuing decline in the number of geology graduates despite strong market demand, highlighting the need for closer collaboration among academia, professional bodies, and other stakeholders to enhance the attractiveness, relevance, and visibility of geological education and career opportunities.
