The Energy Trilemma has been witnessing a complete change of interpretation very rapidly. In less than three years the global focus has been shifting from the sustainability of the energy sources to the securitization of the access and supply of energy. Such on its turn has been triggering a period of unprecedented volatility for the energy market sector and industry.
The Energy Sector is used to cyclical shocks and rebounds. More recently the magnitude and impact of such cycles have increased due to the geopolitical implications in a common understanding that energy transition and decarbonization of human activities are a must.
The picture is amplified by the not reversible trend of the growth of world population in the next 30 years.
Consequently, the energy demand will grow while the access to energy in the different region of the world is extremely unbalanced.
In the current frantic evolution only three elements are relatively stable: Nations need energy, Energy is produced by the International and national companies, more than the 90% of energy resources are in the hands of governments.
Energy demands huge investments and infrastructures and, they have to be built for lasting for decades.
Such investments on their turn demand for a stable scenario from any point of view.
Each country has been adapting and developing its own energy mix starting from the "domestic" energy sources resolving to import due to the growth of internal demand.
