This session invites contributions addressing a broad spectrum of topics in scientific gemmology, with particular emphasis on the increasing role of mineralogical studies applied to gemmological materials. The session aims to provide an updated overview of recent advances and emerging research directions in these fields.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- growth conditions and origin of gem-quality minerals;
- gemstone treatments and enhancement processes;
- characterization of natural gemstones and their synthetic counterparts;
- innovative analytical and investigative methods in gemmology;
- provenance, trade, and traceability of gem-quality minerals in the modern global marketplace.
This session seeks to promote discussion and collaboration among researchers working at the interface of gemmology and Earth Sciences, and to stimulate new interdisciplinary research lines and collaborative initiatives.
